Staying Fit at Your Desk

In this customized program participants will learn how to improve job performance by preventing the discomforts that can occur from office work. This includes effective strategies to prevent backaches, headaches, eye strain, musculo-skeletal pain, fatigue and repetitive motion syndrome.

You will discover how to increase productivity and eliminate most discomfort by changing how you perform job tasks and properly arranging your work area. Topics include:

  • How to make simple, cost effective modifications to your work area that provide greater comfort and increase your output.
  • Understanding how your body works through basic anatomy and body mechanics to prevent injury and promote efficiency of motion.
  • Stretching and tension release exercises to alleviate discomfort.
  • Proper lifting techniques to prevent injury both at work and at home.
  • Strategies to reduce stress, improve stamina, energy and job performance.

    The program format is lively, fast paced, participatory,includes audio-visuals and an extensive program manual

    Upon completion, participants will know how to modify their work station, utilize appropriate self care methods to reduce discomfort and risk of injury, while maintaining energy and maximizing job performance.

    Program Presenter: Ms Kelly Prater-Whitmore, P.T.- a Licensed Physical Therapist with a specialization in ergonomics and preventing repetitive motion injuries.
